How to Navigate GradPath

360 Graduate Student Professional Development

The GradPath website is organized by competencies recognized as central for graduate student success.

For example, if you click on “Leadership and Mentorship,” you will find a description of what leadership means in the context of graduate school.

Competencies of the Western Scholar Teaching Presentation Writing Leadership and Mentorship Research and Academic Skills Career and Professional Development Time Management and Personal Development Collaboration and Interpersonal Communication

First the page will list programs that focus on developing grad students leadership skills as the primary competency, then programs that contribute to leadership or mentorship, but this is not their main focus -- so leadership is listed as a secondary competency.

TAGs will let you know what type of program you are reading about (e.g. workshop, conference or individual consultation); whether the program is designed for international students, or whether registration is required.
